What part of the book was the most fun to write?Īll of it! But I would have to say the scene with the fishermen ribbing their captain about his interest in our heroine, Piper (and her Instagram account), probably made me laugh the most while writing.Ģ. where she butts heads with a surly, sexy local who thinks she doesn’t belong.ġ. I will still recommend this book but if you have read the first book, you may need to come into this one with an open mind.Tessa Bailey is back with a Schitt’s Creek-inspired rom-com about a Hollywood “It Girl” who is cut off from her wealthy family and exiled to a small Pacific Northwest beach town. Ultimately, it was an okay-ish read but it didn’t hold me or give me something to look forward to whenever I dropped it.

The last few chapters had more action than most of the book and this eventually made up for the slow start. I liked that the story highlighted how men can also be objectified by women and how that affects the way they feel about themselves and I think more stories should be told from this POV.

As always, Tessa Bailey brings it home with her steamy scenes and a great plot but I guess my expectations were too high and it didn’t just meet up to them. I didn’t dislike them but I didn’t looove them either. Then there was the fact that I wasn’t totally sold out to the two main characters. Perhaps it was because it took me a while to get into the book. This was supposed to be an easy and quick read especially when this is one of my favorite romance troupes but I didn’t get the same vibes as I did while reading the first book. This is a story about friendship, love, overcoming fears and taking chances. They are however, determined not to explore whatever it is, afraid it would damage their great friendship and also affect other close relationships they have with Piper and Brendan. Although Hannah has had a crush on her boss for a long time and Fox has a reputation with women, they are still both aware that there is an attraction between them. They both met through Brendan (Fox’s best friend) and Piper (Hannah’s sister) and quickly became friends. This is a friends to lovers/close proximity romance story that follows Hannah and Fox. After reading ‘It Happened One Summer’ (the first book) one of my best reads of 2021, my expectations were high. This is the second book in this series and one of my most anticipated reads for this year.
